What Is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is an online analytics service that provides webmasters with a wide variety of information about the activity that takes place on their website. Google Analytics enables ecommerce businesses to segment their visitors, study traffic trends, and optimize conversion funnels — among many other functions.

Setup Instructions

  1. Visit the Google Analytics website.
  2. Log-in or create the Google Account you want to use.
  3. Set up a property in your Analytics account. A property represents your website or app, and is the collection point in Analytics for the data from your site or app.
  4. Set up a Reporting View in your Analytics account. Views let you create filtered perspectives of your data; for example, all data except from your company’s internal IP addresses, or all data associated with a specific sales region.
  5. Follow the instructions to add the tracking code to your website or mobile app so you can collect data in you Analytics property.
